Banana & Black Cherry Smoothie Recipe

I love eating healthy, I'm also the first to admit I'm a sucker for a cheeseburger and a cocktail!

But today I thought I'd share with you my go-to smoothie recipe that I love whizzing up for breakfast or as a quick and nutritious snack when I'm craving something sweet. It's super easy and it even features chocolate! (of sorts)

To start with you're going to need a blender. I use the Breville Blend Active which I love, but you can pick up alternatives that are just as good on Amazon too.

For your Banana & Black Cherry Smoothie you're going to need:
  • 1 Ripe Banana
  • 1 Ripe Pear
  • 1/2 Cup of Frozen Pitted Black Cherries
  • 1/2 Cup of Water
  • 1 Level Teaspoon of Raw Cocoa Nibs - If you can't find raw Cocoa Nibs, dark chocolate chips would work just as well too.  




Firstly break your banana up into small chunks and add to the blender. 

I find it helps to put the soft fruit in the bottom as you want the frozen cherries to blend first creating a smoother final texture.

Next chop up your pear and add into the blender along with the cherries and cocoa nibs last.

Finally add in half a cup of cold water and screw the blender lid on.


Blend your smoothie in 15 second intervals until you're happy with the consistency. This is entirely down to personal preference. 



Pour into your favorite glass or on the go container and enjoy!


I find the cocoa nibs give a similar effect as the chocolate chips do in Starbucks Java Chip Frappuccino minus the calories.

This is a delicious sweet and filling smoothie that is perfect for the summer and the ingredients are relatively cheap and easy to source.
