My Week On Instagram #5

My past week has been challenging, but exciting to say the least. On reflection, weeks like this are were the magic really happens though, and you find that you can push yourself further than you thought. Do you ever have weeks like that?

Check out these snippets from my past week on Instagram...

Summer Favourites - 2015 Edition

This Summer has been one of my best ever, I've moved house, started a new job, and generally gained a better sense of 'me' as a person. It's definitely been a Summer to remember.

Anyway, enough of the nostalgia... Today I wanted to share with you a few of my favourite beauty products that I have been reaching for all season long.

Witch Blemish Gel - £3.29
I use this little miracle worker all year round, but in the Summer I find it especially good for sunburn, insect bits, spots and all minor skin concerns. I couldn't live without this.

Sanctuary Spa Hair & Scalp Rescue Mud - £2
This hair mask is awesome for sun scorched and beach battered hair. Use this once a week whilst in the shower and you'll notice a massive difference in the texture and feel of your hair. It's the perfect summer pick me up for your tresses.

Urban Decay De-Slick Setting Spray - £21full size, £9 travel size
I mentioned this product in my last post, and I really believe its a must have to ensure your make up stays put in the warmer weather. I like to spritz this on straight after I've applied my make up but it can work just as well when you feel like your make up needs a bit of a refresh through out the day.

Clarins Extra Comfort Foundation in shade 103 Ivory - £36
I have recently rediscovered this foundation and I'd forgotten how fantastic it's staying power is.
It has a medium to full coverage and a built in SPF 15. I like to use a tiny amount blended in with a kabuki brush to give a more natural look.

Dove Derma Spa Summer Revived Body Lotion in Medium Dark - £6.99
This is Dove's revival of their original Summer skin body lotion which I used to use religiously in high school. So you can imagine how excited I was to see this new formula appear on the shelves of Boots. I like to rub it in first with my hands, then buff it in with a tanning matt. Don't forget to wash your hands straight after you've applied it as it develops a gorgeous sun kissed glow quickly after application.

The Bodyshop Mango Body Scrub - £13 for 200ml
I have been using this body scrub pre and post faux glow this summer. It smells heavenly, as I find all Bodyshop products do, and it has a good amount of scrub in it to really exfoliate all of your dry areas. I'm definitely in need of purchasing a full size version of this.

Nivea Express Hydration Primer for Normal to Combination skin - £4.99
This is fairly new to me but I have been using it everyday since I bought it. It's a kind of hybrid between a face cream and a primer. It has a gel like texture, and it's fast absorbing which is great if you're in a hurry in the morning. It's light weight formula gives a smooth, non greasy surface for your make up to adhere too, making it a lovely primer as well as leaving the skin hydrated like a face cream.

What products have been your staples this summer? xoxo

Urban Decay: A Little Make Over

Last weekend my Mum and I decided to treat ourselves to a little make over at the new Urban Decay counter in John Lewis in Cardiff. I have loved Urban Decay for years, but since the launch of their first Naked palette back in 2010 the brand has become much more stream line and appealing to the masses whilst keeping its original edgy feel.

John Lewis in Cardiff has an awesome selection of beauty counters, but it has recently been made even better with the much needed addition of an Urban Decay counter. John Lewis' beauty floor is situated on street level leading right out on to The Hayes which is super convenient for all your shopping and restaurant needs.

I had my make up done by the lovely Zandra, and my Mum had hers done by the equally lovely Kate. Both Make up artists were extremely knowledgeable and knew exactly which products would be the most beneficial for my Mum's and mine individual skin types.

They both talked us through every step of the make over and gave us a bit of a background on each product before they applied it, including it's various uses and how we could use it to amp up a look, or use it toned down depending on the occasion.

I decided to play it safe and asked Zandra to keep with a cool toned and neutral theme for my look.

We had a bit of fun when Zandra applied their Perversion Mascara. After seeing the difference on one eye we decided that this was a picture worthy moment to show a true comparison.
The mascara formula contains intense pigments to give a super dark, glamorous look. I'm lucky in the fact that I have good lashes to start with, but this product took them to a whole new level. I loved the effect!

I also really love Urban Decay's ever increasing range of setting sprays, Zandra used the De-slick version on me which is amazing. Not only does it set your make up ensuring it lasts all day, it also keeps oil at bay by stopping any unwanted shine from creeping in.

Ta dah!

Zandra used the following products to create my natural everyday look:
Naked Concealer in Light Warm - £17.50
Naked Flushed in shade Native - £22.50
Afterglow 8-Hour Powder Blush in shade Obsessed - £19
Revolution High Color Lip Gloss in shade Big Bang - £15
24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil in shade Smoke - £15.50

My Mum and I had a fantastic afternoon, and we definitely picked up some handy make up tips along the way. Next time you're in John Lewis, pop over and say hi to Kate and Zandra. Make sure you tell  them I sent you ;)

Lately on Instagram...

I must start by apologising for my recent absence from the blogosphere. Unfortunately work and life have been getting in the way of my normal blogging schedule, welcome to the 21st century lol!

But, I'm back today with a little post sharing my Instagram updates from the past couple of weeks...

I hope I'm not alone in wanting Autumn to set in properly already so I can wrap back up in my trusty scarfs and UGG Boots, and order a hot chocolate at Starbucks without feeling out of place. Bring on the chilly mornings and the need for mittens whilst driving!

I'd love you to check me out on Instagram to stay up to date with my daily musings and Bloglovin too if you fancy... Chat soon xoxo
