Autumn Lip Colours To Fall For...

Autumn is by far my favourite season. I love nothing more than cwtching up by the fire in the evening, with a nice glass of wine watching all the cheesy pre Christmas TV.

I have also been relishing the opportunity to whip out those dark, vampy lip colours that can only be acceptably worn during the day if it's Autumn/ a colder season.

There are four lip colors that I've had on rotation for the last few weeks that I can't seem to get enough of...

(L-R: L'Oreal, Burberry, Make up Revolution, Estee Lauder)

L'Oreal Paris Infallible Gloss in Flash Dance 208 £6.99
I find this to be a hybrid between a liquid lipstick and a lip-gloss. It has a mousse like texture and it feels incredibly light on the lips. I'd describe this as a warm burgundy shade with a gorgeous gold shimmer running through it. I like to keep this in my desk drawer as a transition colour from day to night.

Burberry Lip Glow in Bright Plum No.17 £18.50
This one is by far my favourite lip gloss ever, regardless of the season. I feel like a million dollars when I wear this. It's highly pigmented, but can be a little tricky to apply. I start by using the doe foot applicator that it comes with, then finish with a lip brush to create a crisp edge. I don't usually use a lip pencil with this, but MAC's Vino would look fab underneath.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy in 150 Decadent £25.00
This gorgeous lipstick was gifted to me by my fabulous friend India, ie The Jewel Beauty. She picked this up in duty free but accidentally got the wrong shade. She knew this would be right up my street though so kindly passed it over. This is more brown toned than I would normally pick up myself but it somehow translates to a lush burgundy shade when worn on the lips. I absolutely love it! I imagine this to a darker, more sultry version of the 'Kylie Jenner lip'.

Make Up Revolution Iconic Pro Lipstick in No Perfection Yet £2.49
This is my latest lipstick acquisition and the cheapest of the bunch. Make up Revolution have recently launched their Iconic Pro Lipsticks and this is my favorite shade out of the ones I have. 'No Perfection Yet' is a Raspberry/ Plum-y shade that is really unusual, it's warm yet cool toned at the same time, if that makes any sense?! It has a really soft formula and again I find this applies best with a lip brush for precision. I also really love the rose gold and black packaging!

I'd love to know what lipstick's you've been reaching for this season? xoxo

Dior New Look Mascara: The Review

Mascaras are my one true makeup weakness. I can't leave the house without a quick swipe and I certainly wouldn't be seen dead without a couple of coats on for work. I'm not a huge eyeshadow fan on a daily basis, so I find a good eyeliner and an ever better mascara a must.

I have been using Diorshow New Look Mascara (£25 currently at Selfridges) for the last month and I have reached for it everyday without question.

It has a small plastic wand which tapers into smaller bristles on the end. I've never used a mascara wand like this before and I find it perfect for catching all the little lashes on the inner and outer corners, and especially the bottom ones.

'This prodigious Diorshow New Look mascara is a multi–dimensional volume & treatment mascara formulated with volume enhancer action' - DIOR

If you're a fan of waterproof mascara but hate taking it off in the evening (and the following morning - You know what I mean...), then you're going to love this! This isn't their waterproof version but I find it to be splash proof at the very least. It does require a little elbow grease from my trusty micellar water in the evenings, but nothing I can't handle when I'm tired, grumpy and craving my bed.

It's available in two standard shades, black, and brown. The black is richly pigmented with having a blue tinge that I'm personally not a fan of.

If you're in the market for a new mascara, and fancy a bit of a splurge I'd highly recommend giving this one a go. Have you tried any fantastic new mascara's lately that I should try next?

A Taste of Newbridge

Last month I was lucky enough to attend The Celtic Manor's Newbridge on Usk Blogger evening.
The evening was entitled 'A Taste of Newbridge' and had a foodie focus with an emphasis on local produce, and how to make the best of it in the last few weeks of summer.

The Newbridge on Usk is a 200 year old Inn settled in the hamlet of Tredunnock, about a 15 minute drive from The Celtic Manor Resort. It was formerly owned by presenter Chris Evans, and is a true gem of a hideaway. I can imagine nothing better than enjoying cocktails on the terrace in the Summer or a succulent Sunday roast by the open fires in the Winter.

We were greeted on arrival with Prosecco and Canapes before we embarked on a guided tour of the restaurant, rooms and kitchen garden. The restaurant grows most of their own vegetables and salad on site, plus with the addition of some ever growing pumpkins this Autumn which looked incredible!

After our tour we were shown through to the Newbridge's private dining room where Manager Ronan and head chef Adam had prepared a showcase of food and cocktail demonstrations for us.

Ronan introduced us to The Newbridge’s home made infused spirits including Newbridge Mojito Rum, Strawberry and Basil infused vodka and Fennel and Tarragon Gin (my personal favourite).
It's so refreshing to see local businesses making the most of fresh, seasonal ingredients and creating something superb with them.

Next, head chef Adam Whittle demonstrated for us how to make their infamous 'Garden to Plate' dessert including two different types of meringue and Strawberry Soup. This was essentially an Eton Mess but a hugely prettier and tastier version. The edible flowers really brought the wow factor!

Finally we were treated to an interactive cocktail making session with resident mixologist Matt where we were shown how to create their signature cocktails with a twist. I loved their 'Summer Fizz' which included the Fennel and Tarragon Gin topped up with a splash of Strawberry syrup and Prosecco.

The whole evening was fantastic, and the food and drink was out of this world. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend a trip down to The Newbridge as soon as you can - You'll love it!

What I'm Currently Wearing On My Face...

This past week I have been gravitating towards the same make up day in, day out, I admit I am a creature of habit...

This has quickly become my favourite highlighter and I have been reaching for it most days. It's been really finely milled and it gives a gorgeous glow to the skin without leaving any glitter particles behind. It's available to 3 shades and at £3, it's a must try.

I picked this foundation up after I saw Lilly Pebbles raving about it a few months ago. #YouTubeMadeMeDoIt... At £35 it's pricey but honestly, it's so worth it. This glides on leaving a light to medium coverage that looks dewy and fresh. If you love a high coverage foundation, then this one isn't for you. But if you like something a little more natural, you will love this.

I'm all about the matt blush paired with a dewy highlighter these days (see highlighter above). I really wanted to buy all 6 shades of these matte blushers when they were released, but I behaved and only bought the one in shade 'Nude'. It's a versatile warm, peachy, nude shade that has been the perfect transitional blush from Summer to Autumn. I will definitely be picking up more of these.

I honestly haven't had the time or effort in the morning for eye shadow lately, so a quick swipe of this has been all I've needed. This is a antique bronze shade that reminds me of MAC's Teddy but at a fraction of the cost.

I don't own many lip liners as I never really saw the point in them until I found this. This is easy to use, you don't have to sharpen it and it looks good under almost any lipstick. Are there any other shades from this line that you'd recommend?

Ok, I'm incredibly late to the party on this one... as per, but I honestly love this. It 100% lives up to the hype that every Beauty Blogger has created. It has a super lightweight consistency and it blends like a dream under the eyes.

Lastly is an oldie but a goody. This is my go to nude and I will always have one of these in rotation. It's a warm peachy beige nude with a creme finish. This can be tricky to get hold of, so if you spot it, be sure to pick one up.

What products have you been loving on the daily lately? xoxo
