Talking The Event Of The Summer With Lydia Bright... #PoloManorStyle

Saturday 18th June marks the return of the social event of the season, Polo at the Manor, held at The Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales. This spectacular sporting event promises to be bigger and better than ever with exhilarating polo matches, show stopping live entertainment and of course a generous helping of Champagne!

This week I was lucky enough to have some interview time with the lovely Lydia Bright who will be judging the much-anticipated ‘Best Dressed’ competition in association with Capital FM Radio at this year's Polo.

Hi Lydia, I hope you’re well?

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer a few questions for my blog, Lippy In The City!
I’m a huge fan of your blog, and I love your mix of posts, what do you enjoy most about blogging?

'I absolutely love my blog. I can't believe how long it has been going almost 5 years and also how much it has grown. I would probably say the fashion posts are my favourite to do. I love styling and putting the outfits together. I love finding all the beautiful locations. I have shot in manor houses, theatres, old cobbled streets of Italy. It's so much fun, a lot of work and effort goes into it but I'm so passionate about it.

Summer is just around the corner; which fashion trends are you most looking forward to rocking in the warmer weather?

I love the romantic floral theme that has been coming through. It was massive on the catwalk and has just starting emerging on the high street. It's super feminine and elegant but also bang on trend.

Do you have any makeup bag ‘holy grail’ items that you love to repurchase?

My ultimate makeup bag must haves are...
- Paw paw. This is brilliant for cracked lips and to put on lightly before lipstick and gloss to help protect.
- Natural collection lash curl mascara. It's only £1.99 and for me the best in the business for lengthening and volumising.
- Nars sheer glow foundation. This is one of my fave foundations for even coverage whilst still looking natural.

With Polo at the Manor coming up this June, what are your Summer beauty essentials to keep you looking, cool, calm and on point?

I would say my beauty essentials for Polo at the Manor are...
- Benefit Bathina. Fingers crossed the sun will be out and this means stunning summer dresses. This product is great for rubbing onto the legs and arms to give a lovely soft shimmer.
- Elizabeth Arden sunflower. This is a beautiful floral scent perfect for the summer and a gorgeous day event.

Aside from the Polo at The Manor, are there any other Summer events that you're looking forward to this year?

I’m really looking forward to festival season. I always go along to V and Wireless. I'm also super excited for Wimbledon - hello strawberries, cream and champagne!

Polo at the Manor is the Summer event that's not to be missed. Spectator admission starts from only £20, with hospitality starting from £115. Who's joining me?? xoxo

Sometimes You Just need a Little Chanel In Your Life...

I love lip balms and I love Chanel... So when my friend India gifted me a Chanel Les Beiges Healthy Glow Lip Balm for my birthday in March, let's just say I was over the moon.

They say that good things come in little packages and this little beauty doesn't disappoint. India bought me shade no.10 which is a warm peachy, coral hue. I'm fair skinned but I would say that this shade would flatter most skin tones.

It has a creme finish formula that leaves a gorgeous, hydrating glaze on your lips. The texture is smooth and buttery and it applies on the lips like a dream.

The lip balm has a sheer consistency and isn't highly pigmented, which I like. I'm rubbish at applying lip products without a mirror, but even I can apply this without looking like a toddler playing with her Mum's makeup for the first time!

The formula is incredibly hydrating and lasts a few hours on my lips before I need to re-apply.

I keep this in my handbag and on me always, because let's face it, as women applying a little Chanel half way through the day always makes us feel a little better.

I would love to try the other shades from this range and at £25.00 it's a nice pay day treat. Have you tried any products from Chanel's Les Beiges line? xoxo

De-Stressing The Neom Way

As most of you may already know, I am a huge candle and home fragrance lover! So much so, I started my own soy candle business earlier this year called Candles In The City. When I discovered the UK brand Neom Organics, I knew I'd found a brand that Candles In The City could only dream of inspiring too one day.

Neom Organics is a Wimbledon based home fragrance company created in 2005 by Nicola Elliott and her partner Oliver Mennell. Neom focuses on providing all natural, stress relieving products to help ease the tensions of everyday life and provide a little luxury whilst doing so.

My colleague first introduced me to Neom in the form of their De-Stressing Home Mist. I instantly fell in love with it's lavender and jasmine fragrance and the soothing effect it had on me. It quickly became one of our desk essentials, and we would spray it religiously during challenging moments in the office.

Because I loved the home mist so much I decided to purchase a few products myself to keep around the house. Naturally a candle was the first item I added to my basket. I went for the Real Luxury Travel Candle. This is part of the same de-stressing range that the home mist belongs too, and at £16.00 it's an absolute bargain. It's fragrance heavy and burns evenly. I love keeping this in my bedroom as I find the glow and scent extremely calming as I'm drifting off to sleep.

I also picked up the Real Luxury De-Stress Bath and Shower Oil and Real Luxury Intensive Stress Relief Treatment for £8.00 each. The bath and shower oil is absolutely gorgeous and something I will definitely be repurchasing. A few drops is all you need in a full bath to help relax you and fill the bathroom with the most indulgent, relaxing fragrance. If you don't have a bath, you can instead massage a small amount of the oil on to your decolletage before jumping in the shower. The steam from the shower will help lift the fragrance so you can still enjoy all the benefits of the 24 essential oils that are crammed into this pocket sized bottle.

The Real Luxury Intensive Stress Relief Treatment comes in this handbag friendly roller-ball dispenser that's ideal for when you're on the go. I like to apply this to my temples and just behind my ears when I'm in need of some instant calm. The lavender, jasmine and Brazilian rosewood scent is an essential oil blend created in heaven. This coupled with a few deep breaths and a large latte can see me through even the most stressful situations.

The 3 Wick Candles and Intensive Skin Treatment Candles are next on my wish list. Have you tried anything from Neom? Please leave me your recommendations below, I'd love to see your product suggestions... xoxo

A Few New Spring Things

Spring has finally sprung, and with the promise of warmer weather just around the corner, I thought now would be a great time to add in a few additions to my daily skincare and makeup routine.

For the past few months I have been suffering from parched, dehydrated skin and my usual moisturisers just hadn't been cutting it. When I discovered that Garnier was launching a brand new lightweight moisturiser that promised to 'quench your skin's thirst' I knew I had to get my hands on a bottle, and quickly. Garnier Skin Active Moisture Bomb is the day cream in Garnier's new hydrating skin care system. At £5.33 it's affordable and readily available. I picked mine up at Boots but I've also spotted it in my local Asda and Tesco. I can't wait to see if this makes a difference to my skin, I will keep you updated.

Along with my dehydrated face, I have been getting a few pesky breakouts on my chest. (Not making myself sound too attractive here I know...) I always used Witch Anti Blemish Gel, which is fantastic but my local Boots were unfortunately out of stock when I went to pick up a replacement tube. Instead I picked up what looked like their own brand equivalent, Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Night Gel (£2.99) and so far I have to say it's working wonders. The gel is quickly absorbed and leaves your skin feeling lovely and smooth. I will continue to use this and let you know how it works.

I had been meaning to pick this face powder up for what seemed like the longest time. I finally caved after my friend India received it and confirmed it was as good as I'd hoped. Vichy Dermablend Setting Powder is currently reduced to £13.60 on Look Fantastic and it is totally worth it. I have been using this for a few weeks now and I absolutely love it. The powder is very finely milled and is almost undetectable on the skin, plus it sets my foundation in place perfectly.

Last up is another item that I had been hankering after for a while. I had seen tonnes of my favourite YouTubers rave about the EX1 Cosmetics Invisiwear Liquid Foundation and when I finally found it on Look Fantastic (my new favourite online outlet...) I had to pick a bottle up. I got mine in shade F100 which is the lightest they do for £12.50. After I purchased it I read that F100 is equivalent to NW25. I usually wear an NW10 so I instantly knew this was going to be too dark for me before it even arrived. None the less, I have managed  to wear this with about 4 drops of my Body Shop Lightening Drops mixed in and I thought it looked gorgeous. I'm gutted I couldn't experience its full effect without the drops, guess I'll just have to crack the fake tan out.

Have you picked up any new bits lately to help you transition into the new season? xoxo
