My Hopes & Dreams for 2017... | Lippy In The City

2016 has been a whirl wind of a year for me. I have changed jobs, settled into my own home and ultimately found a better sense of who I am as a person. Yes, it may have taken me 26 years to get there, but for the first time in my life I feel like I'm in control of my own destiny and the direction that I’m going in, and for me, that’s a huge deal!

With that said and done I’m massively looking forward to 2017 and a fresh start to the year. Here are a few of my little hopes and dreams for the next 12 months…

I’m super excited that my boyfriend Garrad and I are jetting off to Cuba this month. It’s a country I’ve always wanted to visit and I can’t wait to soak up some sunshine, culture, and a few cheeky mojitos! I’ve definitely been bitten by the ‘wanderlust’ bug lately and I can’t wait to explore some new places. Amsterdam, Cape Verde and another trip to Paris (4th time) are also on my visit list for 2017.

Healthy Mind, Healthy Body
If you’re a regular reader of Lippy In The City you’ll know that I started my Healthy Mind, Healthy Body series back in 2016. I have to admit I’ve fallen off the band wagon a bit these last few months but I’m determined to get back on track this new year. I've been meal prepping consistently since November so I intend to keep that up as I really enjoy having something warm, tasty and ultimately healthy at lunchtime. I just need to get my evening meals onto a similar wavelength and cut out my daily snacking. I’ll keep you updated on my progress.

Law. Eat. Sleep. Repeat
The majority of my free time in 2017 will be taken up studying for my Law Degree. This isn’t a bad thing though as I’m really looking forward to getting my teeth stuck in, learning all that I can and the opportunities it could potentially bring into my life. This will be my first BA Honours degree and I’m fully aware of the challenges ahead of me, as I’ll be studying alongside working my full time job. When I applied I was very much of the mind-set that if I didn’t do it now, I might never have the right moment again to just go for it, and I’m all for grabbing any opportunity whilst you can.

Lippy In The City
I’m not one for aiming to hit a certain number of stats, followers or likes when it comes to my social media or my blog, but I’d really love for my blog to continue doing as well as it has in 2016 in 2017. 2016 saw my blog have the biggest boost its ever had and that has given me the motivation to really try and keep the momentum up. I’m nowhere near where I’d like to be with my little blog, but I’m so proud of my little space on the internet that I’d like to keeping it going for as long as I can. Thank you so much to everyone that supported Lippy In The City in 2016, your support means more to me than you’ll ever know!

Don't worry, be happy...
Lastly, I'd really like to stay as happy as I have been in 2016, in 2017. I know this may seem like a silly one but happiness and contentment is so underrated in our day and age. Like I said earlier, it's definitely taken me a long time to have the mind-set that I do today, but I think that's something that can come with age and experience too. I try not to take things too seriously and I always take life with a pinch of salt. Like my boyfriend Garrad says, 'Don't sweat the small stuff'.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas and New Year - Here's to an awesome 2017! xoxo
